Description:

2019 AHS/ADS HM Individual Cultivar Award Winner!!! WOO HOO!!!

Named for a great friend right here in Polkville, Bruce Martin. Bruce is quite a character... and a big one, too! Indeed, there's quite a few "remarks" one could say about 'ole Bruce... but the most honest one is: Bruce is about the nicest guy one could ever hope to meet. When I was new to Polkville, Bruce and his entire family really made me feel like a part of the community... always there to help, to loan me what I need to make things work - even to offer up his tractor to deliver brides in! He's quite handy with a sheet of metal too (he's a "Shop" teacher at the local HS)... making my big nursery sign (twice, the first one was stolen!), and my little garden medallions too! Bruce is "remarkable" all right. Thanks for everything, Bruce! ;-)

This audacious clean lavender is exquisite! A tall, large flowered and very deeply saturated lavender is hard enough to find, but with a piercing green throat? Divine! Lighter mauve eyewash is a really beautiful feature as well. All this in a very hardy dormant plant... could it be? Yes! Lavender is the very best color for clarifying seedlings, and with so many other positive aspects (size, height, plant habit, eyewash)... a great breeder too! Tall, makes a statement, brings a lot of joy to its neighborhood, has great kids... for sure, sounds like Bruce all right! ;-)
