Description: What a CHEERFUL near-green!!! This playful gal will lift your spirits... guaranteed!!!
A true UF with an amazing array of forms, this intensely bright flower is one of the closest to "all green" as I've got here... of the 3 that I introduced in 2016, this one blooms the most! SO many blooms (check out the scape photo - lots of lateral branches, that birfurcate) that it looks like literal "pom poms" of TALL and bright green color... my garden "cheerleader", for an easy 9 weeks every summer! Rebloom is SO strong and reliable, it just doesn't stop. I simply ADORE everything about this plant, and KNOW you will TOO!!!
I was in marching band from grade 6, and including my first 3 years at UF (as a music major). During practice, we commonly battled for space on the playing field with the Gator cheerleaders... whom we (lovingly, of course) called the "Pom Squad". Once that memory resurfaced one day after commenting to a guest that this flower was indeed the "cheerleader" of the nursery... the name has been "in stone" ever since! Here's to ALL the cheerleaders out there, who just LOVE to make folks HAPPY!!! In particular, Anne Aregood... a really sweet gal that ALWAYS makes people smile. LOVE YOU, ANNE!!!
