Description: At the very first meeting I attended of the Foothills Daylily Society here in my (then) new digs in NC, I just happened to plunk myself down right next to this sweet-lookin' gal... named Nancy Womack. I believe her first words to me were "I almost didn't make it...", which of course pressed me to ask her why. It was because she'd been playing viola all day with the local Symphony... of which she was a Board member of. Having been a music major at UF for years on end myself, her eyes nearly bugged out of her head when I told her I was a Bassoonist! Playing bassoon is certainly "slightly different" (imagine that!), so though I wasn't surprised when she immediately whipped out a registration form for the orchestra... it DID surprise me when due to the fact that I'd long since sold my bassoon, she somehow convinced the Director of the Symphony to BUY me one to play (and had it in my hands in just a few days)! Now, I'm not going to kid you into believing that my 18-year hiatus from playing didn't take it's toll on my abilities, so you may as well know that my attempt to relive those "golden years" definitely "fell a bit flat" (that's music talk). BUT... that didn't mean that a fantastic relationship wasn't born that day, at all! Nancy Womack is not only a natural born leader, it turns out she's one heckuva party-thrower, too! She's been President of the club for some time now (as well as President of AHS Region 15!), and I know there's a LOT of people who not only admire and appreciate all that she does... but really do love her, for all that she IS.
When finding "just the right one" to name for Nancy, there are a lot of things it just HAD to be in order to bear the dedication I really wished to give to her. Feminine, but yet very bold... tenacious, but forgiving... clear, and yet fun-loving... hardy as a hill-bred country girl, but not one to turn her nose up at you if you decide to love her a little. I found it.
I love you Nancy... and I know for a fact, I'm not alone!!!
