Daylily: Gentle Fay

There's no doubting, this flower has a gentle soul!  You can certainly see it, with the soft shell-pink and delicate looking self color... and the radiating inner beauty, that radiates from the rich (and fresh) green throat out into a large and lovely complexity of pattern.  What a calm and collected sweetheart!  This flower has been just beautiful to have in the gardens here, with abounding bloom and incredibly quick rebloom (shown in the scape photo)... with a grace of form and presence that just win your heart right over!  Don't let all this sweet talk fool ya though... this gal's as tough as nails!  A VERY hardy dormant plant, that shines no matter what you throw at her... resilient as can be, while never showing any hint of distress!  Whatta Gal!!!

With the plant description above... if you're lucky enough to know my Auntie Fay, then you'll clearly know why I picked this one to name for her.  To put it lightly, the woman is simply a mystery to the universe.  How a woman could go through so many unwarranted trials of life, yet continue to ALWAYS have a bevy of hugs and laughter to share... is just beyond any of us in the family!  ALWAYS so VERY upbeat and encouraging, the gal has spent more time nurturing and supporting others... than she'd ever dream of spending on herself.  Tall and gregarious, the life of ANY party... yet quick to become soft-spoken, and help you with any troubles.  Auntie Fay has always been there... not just for all of us, but for countless others as well... ready to give all of her heart in an instant, to "help make things better". 

Auntie Fay... you know me so well... and have never cared about my "slightly different" ways.  You've never judged me, and have always had the ability to see right into my heart.  You've seen me for who I really am, and you've no idea what that has meant to me... for all these years, even if unspoken.  You've never asked anyone for anything, and though this dedication may have you feeling a bit shy by revealing so much about you... people need to know, I need to know, that you understand that what you've done for us all has meant more than you can imagine.  You are, and always have been, a light in our lives... and for once, I want to give some of that light back.  Thank you, Auntie Fay... from the bottom of that very same heart...that you know so well.
