Description: I'm not really sure how I could ever convey what this new plant means to me... in written words, a ton of photos, or even with two videos I got of it during bloom season. The fact that I somehow managed to hybridize a diploid daylily to take on dimensions that this plant so voraciously displays is... definitely a major milestone. Not just for my own career of hybridizing, but for daylilies... et al.
In the first (leading) photo: Not the prettiest shot in the world (and certainly "slightly different" to care more about performance habit than getting a mug shot of a single bloom)... but if you actually care about gardening, then depicting what a malnourished double fan of this new plant can do after having just been lined late the previous Fall... should matter. I was happy the linings bloomed at all, as due to so many Fall events here over the previous years, the original clump sat in the same spot for 6 years up on the big hill... when it should have been moved at 3, and was damn near death. You can see in this pic (taken in 2020, just 7 mos later) - the first 2 scapes are brown, and leaning to the left. Then came the rebloom. Amazing.
I wouldn't have included the second video, as it was taken in very late season (when conditions at a working nursery aren't so glamorous)... but I thought it was important people see how this plant not only endures, but THRIVES. In spite of me/my handling, and near-record drought... it's "Full Scream Ahead", and THEN some!
The form and color clarity/saturation of the flowers is impeccable, and the plant an invincible showpiece. I've got enough to keep the price down (for now), so more folks can see it for themselves... and I just CAN'T wait for 'em to!
