Description: GREAT near-white for very late season here!
What really won me over with this selection was the fact that the plant habit itself is so voraciously beautiful... from the time the clean dormant foliage erupts in the Spring, until past the general mid-season peak bloom... and then positively ERUPTING in a gorgeous bouquet in very late season! There's a lot to be said for "very lates": Even with reblooming daylilies, there's generally a depreciation of the foliage after bloom cycle. With so many "mid" season bloomers, a large area planted in daylilies can look pretty dang sad for several weeks after they're done blooming. With a very late like this one, the lush foliage and large near-white bouquets it presents REALLY bring a new life to entire bed of "spent" plants! While the "group shot" I have here was only meant for my own reference, I thought it was well worth showing... as it displays pretty well just how that works.
This cultivar was selected to be a fundraiser for our local Hospice chapter (of Cleveland County, NC), and for quite a number of reasons! I'd been seeking out the "perfect candidate" for this mission for a few years (since having helped out with my local chapter's yearly benefit soiree' back in 2013), and THIS one indeed fit the bill!!! The chapter tag line is "Definition of Peace", and this large near-white (which truly IS totally white to the eye by midafternoon) "embodied" that concept. Being so full of life until the very end of the season just added to the story, as to how Hospice helps SO many people and their families... later in life. Since selecting it as a 3rd-year seedling clump for this purpose in 2016 (with help from gal-pal Judy Gray, who has done a ton of work for Hospice), it's SURE been making things a lot prettier 'round here! It's SO hard to have to be so patient sometimes, but I've FINALLY got enough to offer up this beauty... to help raise funds for Hospice!!! WOO HOOOOOOOO!!!
