Description: Got eyeballs in your head? Well after seein' the bloom on this AMAZING flower, GOOD LUCK gettin' 'em back in there!!!
Story on this hottie goes back preeeeety dang far: In the photo of the single plant (that has an inset photo of a bloom and a measurin' tape) - that one was taken on the very day I discovered it here. That section of bed (from the Empress tree in the upper right, to about 10 feet to the left of where I'm standin') had been amended with a toxic compost (laden with Phosphorous, or "P") I'd rustled up 3 years prior, just before planting ~300 brand new seedlings in it. The carnage from the compost was nearly absolute to all perennials, with only 11 of the dl seedlings making it to their 3rd year... which is shown. I'd pretty much written off the entire lot, having let giant P-sucking annuals (like amaranth, cleome, giant zinnias, etc) naturalize at will (while glamorizing my foolish mistake). Well... can you imagine my surprise when I was tendin' to a nicer area nearby, and saw THIS behemoth staring at me through the jungle??? Not only did it survive, the thing had a 9" bloom of absolutely SEARING saturation... of one of the best HOT red-pinks I've come up (and there's been several) to DATE! WOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!
This phenomenally resilient new daylily is a rock-solid dormant, sports beefy/healthy habit... and while not as tall as I generally like 'em to be, I've not been able to look away from these gorgeous blooms (with NICE substance) that cover the robust plants... DAILY! And then... there's that color...
Try one on for size... and I'll bet your very soul becomes centered on this WONDROUS daylily, TOO!!!
