Description: What a GLORIOUSLY serene and big flower, with a bite!
This plant has had me in a tizz for quite some time. The flowers are simply impeccable... starting out at 7+" (and relaxing to 6.5 by the end), they assuredly aren't missed. The plant habit is fantastic... big fans, deep green and wide leaves, thick scapes with ample branches and more than enough buds... but it's short, at least for the types of daylilies that usually get me flailin'. Indeed, this one blooms right above the foliage (so at least you get to see all the incredible blooms)... so I really had to think about the fact that there IS a definite use for a really large and amazingly edged flower - in FRONT of the border of a ACTUAL garden! Duh. Maybe if my own garden wasn't s'dang huge, I'd remember sometimes that these plants may just wind up in a "normal" person's garden one day... 'eh?
For sure, "senstive issues" can seem small at the start... and even though they may be a bit rough around the edges, they can also become quite a beautiful thing - when brought to the front! ;-)
