Description:

VERY cool color scheme with this one... that has a few different looks! I've included several shots I've taken over the years, which show that depending on lighting and time of season, this gal takes on a few different outfits as she plows through the year! Predominantly a bitone (with lighter sepals), she'll occasionally be nearly all pink... yet the dark pink veining (or "hairs") are pretty much evident in all but the coolest temps. In the last photo, taken by Shirley Toomey in her tundra garden, you can see the pink is a much softer color in the far north... and I've seen it the same in areas like South Dakota and Massachusets with this look myself. Piercing green throat really adds flair to the gorgeous shades of pink... of which there's many, being a bitone and all. I wish I had a later scape shot, because they'd show how unusually the lateral branches come out at a very hard angle, bifurcating into separate terminal whorls (LOTS of buds that are VERY well spaced).

Overall (and in an actual garden), you can see in the main clump photo where I've retained what was just 2 fans just two years prior... and lined double fans just to the left that were set out the previous Fall, for current season double-fan sales. Pretty AMAZING performer for a diploid, INDEED!!! Hardy as stone, t'boot! I guess one could pick it apart on stupid details, but to me, that'd be just "splittin' hairs"! Have mercy, what more could ya want from a plant?!?! ;-)
