Description: I became enamored with this sweetheart early on, as the plant habit was SO "over the top" for a diploid... gorgeous foliage, and very unusually tall and well-branched scapes (with LOTS of buds!). What truly amazed me most though, was that it just kept on reblooming... 3 VERY full sets of scapes per fan, each and every season. AMAZING!!!
Too many of the "modern patterns" I'd been seeing were indeed pretty, but the plants themselves had evidently not been much of a priority... grassy foliage, thin wispy scapes, an overall weak habit. While many had extreme patterns with crazy configurations... the actual self color of the flowers seemed often "muddy". This one was none of those things, and is QUITE the showy (and very hardy) performer!
Very green throat is a nice contrast to the lavender/plum self, and eye is varying gradients of lavender and purple... and outlined in a slight band of red. Overall, if you happen to be breeding for elaborate patterns, I believe this plant (which is VERY pod fertile) will give you a much better chance of getting awesome patterned kids... WITH plant habit to match. What a concept! ;-)
One odd thing here: Generally, heavy rebloomers increase quickly, as each new scape causes a new fan to emerge. That's not the case with this one, as the increase is generally 1:2 each year. Personally, I love not having to divide it every time I turn around (as with most strong rebloomers)... but it also means I don't have many to sell, which has definitely been the case since introducing.
