Description: My camera does a lousy job of showing deep purple... always more red in the resulting photo's, than to the actual eye. Dang it!
This big and beefy flower has the VERY saturated and clear color of Malbec wine (my personal FAVE!) to the eye... a very deep purple, with just a hint of red. The light ruffles extend to the sepals, which are aptly clean and broad as well. The "chalky" watermark is a vestige of early Munson breeding, something I've always truly loved... and retained. This new hottie shares a parent with last year's "Queen Kong", and does indeed have very similar plant habit... though this flower is a deeper purple.
The plant habit on this plant is nothing short of incredible. Masive fans with wide leaves are impressive, even when out of bloom season! Scapes are as thick as you can imagine, with fantastic deep branching... laterals bifurcating into 2 terminal bud whorls each. Stunning as a specimen!
Indeed, if you're looking for a little "treat" during the day (and not just at sunset)... have some Malbec, TODAY!!! ;-)
