Description:

THIS red/purple velvet hottie is "THE BOMB"! Set your garden positively SMOULDERING with this big bad boy, ASAP! Rock-solid dormant habit pumps up GORGEOUS well-branched scapes, and the flower? I just wish I could make draperies out of that velvety richness!!! ALL of this plant fits into my "Giant" category, to say the least. If ya think I'm kiddin' in my descriptions... just ask AHS Garden Judges how they feel 'bout Mr. Ken here. AHS HM Winner, 2020! WOO HOOOOO!!!

This plant has won the "President's Cup" (best clump on the tour) in Region 11 for its show (which is saying something for a dark flower, against July Oklahoma heat). I've also included a shot that a great friend took of this monster in his Idaho garden - Mr. Ken doesn't even have any issues with northern desert extremes!

Anyone who's been here for any one of the many daylily events I pull off... you've met my Sis Jane's hubby, Ken. The dynamic duo live in Floyd, Va... just 3 hours up the hill from me. They're both card-carrying Hippies, ridiculously educated (both are professors), and just COOL PEOPLE!!! After 25 years of teaching in some 8 different Middle Eastern countries, there's not much that daunts Mr. Ken! As a Physics Professor and Army-trained mechanic, Ken can fix ANYTHING... and believe me, HE'S responsible for keeping this place "up and running" as much as I am! I love ya Ken... and can tell you with total honesty, my life would not be the same without you. Thanks for catchin' (and keepin'!) 'im, Jane!!!
