Description: Being a lover of "loud" color, I toiled for a while about introducing this one... and then realized there's not only true garden value in "tranquil", but these shades of lavender and orchid are GREAT to hybridize with (for those who do out there). The applique' throat sits nicely inside the lovely lavender halo, and the darker lavender petals contrast beautifully with the light orchid sepals. All these subtleties remind me of the "batik" fabric patterns that were so popular for a while. It's wickedly fertile (be SURE to mark your crosses with this one, as it will produce full pods on its own). As you can see in the second photo, color becomes lighter on really hot days (95+).
