Description: As with my previous introduction of "Solaris", I really have to give thanks to the work of Oscie Whatley on this one. I loved his plants... first, for the amazingly stout structure of 'em, and next for the huge flat-opening rounded forms and clarity of his blooms. "Burlywhirl" has a coupla doses of Oscie's "Solar Music" in it, which is pretty obvious. "Improving" on Oscie's wonderful work is NO small task, and in fact, multi-generational.
The color clarity/intensity of the blooms on what is now "Burlywhirl" is renown here at the nursery, who's garden name has been "Big Ass Yellow" for years already. Stunning in person, that's for sure. As striking as it was as a young seedling though... I saw that the scapes, while strong and well-branched, may not be as big of an improvement as I really hoped (to really set it "apart" from others in the class). That changed VERY quickly though... as it wasn't but a few days later, the 100% rebloom started to show up. Okay... NOW you're talkin' my language, kiddo!
When selected, I lined this one out in a rather neglected bed... so forgive the look of the place in the video I managed to get of it (below)! Because of the immediate rebloom on every mature fan, the intensity of this hottie's show lasts for nearly 8 weeks here. Several "improvement" check boxes ticked on this one, for sure!
